Research evaluation from the program to date is revealing three main themes:
1) Recovery in Place: how staying in one's community and accessing substance use support is beneficial, as opposed to attending residential treatment settings.
2) Meaningful Work as Medicine: connection to work that makes one feel fulfilled, purposeful, and socially connected provides the necessary structure and support to work on substance use goals.
3) Self-Directed Goal Setting: being in control of one's own goal setting and direction in life enhances the likelihood of successful behavioural change around health and substance use.
